Within the investigations on the attribution of some manuscripts to the famous philologist P. Baffi and now kept at the National Library of Naples (BNN), this brief contribution investigates in detail some of the passages contained in Ms.II.D.54 (f. 234r et f. 325r), in order to understand its meaning and to evaluate and validate its attributing hypotheses.

The 1980s are characterized by rapid development of digitization process and research of digital libraries. In 1994 Latvia was also involved in this process with the first attempt to digitize the materials of high demand and in poor physical condition at the Latvian Academic Library. The article summarizes the career of a graduate of the Faculty of Mechanics (1964) of Riga Polytechnic Institute Arno Līcis. The article reveals and describes his work while being an engineer at the Riga Electromachine Building Factory (RER), at the Latvian Scientific Research Institute of Trauma- tology and Orthopaedics (LSRITO) and in the printing house «Jāņa sēta», as well as being an inventor. Anne de Graville Translates Alain Chartier : Identifying the Manuscript Source in the Margins of B.N. fr. 2235

An examination of the single manuscript of Anne de Graville’s Rondeau, a ‘translation’ of Alain Chartier’s La Belle dame sans mercy, as well as consideration of 1424 and Carl Wahlund’s 1897 critical edition reveals that Anne used several manuscripts and early printed editions in establishing the version of Chartier’s poem written in the margins of BN fr 2253. The base exemplar was most likely St. Petersburg, National Library of Russia MS fr. f° v. XIV. 0007, with variants found in BN fr 20026, BN fr 924, and the early printed editions.

This article reviews online (Internet) anatomy projects and multimedia productions (books and CD-ROMs) based on the Visible Human Project (VHP) of the United States National Library of Medicine. The focus of these projects and productions is on the teaching of 3D anatomy using the digitized sections of the visible human male and female. The article also provides information about the VHP, its goals and what it has achieved thus far.

We present an online anatomy atlas based on the Visible Human Project (VHP) of the US National Library of Medicine. The objective is to provide original unlabeled as well as labeled sections of the human body of high quality and resolution on the Internet, for use in basic and continuing medical education. For a representative overview of the body, 370 axial sections were selected from the male and female data base of the VHP with special regard to regions of clinical interest. Each section is accompanied by its corresponding computer tomography (CT) image and, if available, magnetic resonance images (MRI) for quick and easy comparison of morphologic and radiologic structures. A comprehensive compilation of the current international literature on paediatric anaesthesia is lacking. The aim of this study was to identify all articles on clinical practice in paediatric anaesthesia, to name the respective journals, and to assess the publication activity and international recognition of selected countries for a 6-yr period (1993–1998).
